On Wednesday 11th November 2009, we held a reception in the House of Lords, sponsored by our patron Lord Griffiths, to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Kathleen Martin from Orbit Group's care and repair service, spoke about how the life of Janice, one of the Trust's beneficiaries, has been significantly improved with our help. In April 2010, Joseph Clarke was appointed as the trust secretary, replacing Howard Ward. Joe is treasurer of Age UK Coventry and a financial consultant to Age UK Warwickshire. The trustees wish to record their appreciation of Howard's work over the previous five years.

 

The Trust's founder chairman, Ron Crewes sadly died in September 2010. There was a service of thanksgiving to remember Ron's life at Truro School on 16 October and the Trustees intend to institute a permanent recognition of his contribution to the Trust.

 

The latest Annual General Meeting was held on Monday 28 December 2011 at the offices of Age UK Warwickshire, Clemens Street, Leamington Spa.

At the meeting, the audited accounts to 30th September 2011 were approved, showing:

Income amounting to £73,498 (2010 - £31,203)
Grants made of £23,713 (£32,849)

Total expenditure of £57,156 (£64,986)
Fund balances of £276,300 (£259,709)
 
Fox Evans were re-appointed as Auditors and Wright Hassall as Solicitors. Kathleen Martin MBE was appointed as a trustee, bringing the number up to five.

 

We are supporting Care & Repair England with a grant of £10,000 spread over two years, initially to help their campaign to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by disabled people seeking to access grants for home adaptations.

The Trust is sponsoring a research project to be completed in the first half of 2012 by Riseborough Research and Consultancy Associates and supported by Age UK Warwickshire. The project is looking at what social housing providers and older people organisations can do together to provide housing and care for the most vulnerable.  More
